The Story Behind the Art and Words

My story begins with a lifelong passion for color and words. The mood, the aura, of a certain color or word combination intrigues me. Finding ways to capture emotion with pigment, or creating color with words, are two of my passions.

 I am an idealistic dreamer and my work reflects that. I want it to be little spots of beauty in a world filled with too much ugly.

 Art and writing have always played a part in my life, even when circumstances piled demands and duties on my shoulders. It didn’t take me long to find that I loved to paint tranquil moments in nature. Quiet, peaceful scenes that thrilled me deep inside. My lofty goal is for people to see something in my paintings that draws them closer to the Creator. In writing, I strive to highlight loveliness in unexpected places, the hidden wonders in daily life, and the beauty in brokeness. 

I work primarily in oil and watercolor, short stories, essays, and poetry. I enjoy taking a class every now and then, learning a new technique, or talking shop with other artists and writers. I welcome studio visits and questions about my art or writing.
